	This isn&#39;t really about chili, but more about friendship and kindness. &nbsp;New to the ranching community and riding in the desert I didn&#39;t quite know what I was in for. &nbsp;Waking long before dawn we would drive to Bellevue, saddle up our horses and drive past Carey into Laidlaw park or some other allotment to do what ever kind of work was needed that day. &nbsp;The days were often long and always hot. &nbsp;After riding all day just about all I could think of was food...any food. &nbsp;Anything would have sufficed but I had the luck of enjoying the best chili ever. &nbsp;Many many nights we rolled into Carey and the Loading Chute after 10:00 PM. &nbsp;It didn&#39;t seem to matter how late it was Walter would bring huge bowls of the best dang chili I have ever eaten before or since to our table. &nbsp;Along with a cold bottle of Black Bute porter I don&#39;t think anything ever tasted so good. &nbsp;His warm and welcoming smile did just that made me feel warm and welcomed. &nbsp;It has been a lot of years since I&#39;ve seen Walter, but his kindness remains fresh in my memory. &nbsp;Walter, you were one of a kind!</p>
